This small pond was named after Wilmot "Mammy" Redd, a woman who was hung in 1692 for accusations of witchcraft. She was a lifetime resident of the area and incurred a nasty reputation of witchcraft from those she didn't like (or who didn't like her).
Today, however, it is a popular location for model boat racing in the summer and ice skating during the winter. Fishing is also popular here, with species like largemouth bass, sunfish, and steelhead lurking in the water.
